How to Get your Dog's Clothes Size

In selecting your dog’s clothing size, the most important thing to consider is the length. Always remember that when choosing any type of clothing for your favorite pet, the length must be close to the base of your pet’s tail. To get the exact size of your dog, use a measuring tape to determine his/her neck, back and chest. After doing so, please refer to our helpful tips below on the proper way of measuring your dog’s body parts:

1. For the neck—measure around your dog’s neck, allowing enough room for his/her neck to be comfortable.

2. For the back-- measure the length from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.

3. For the chest—measure your dog’s chest starting from behind the front legs up to around his back. Make sure that you get accurate measurement for the chest because this will determine if the clothes that you are going to buy will fit your dog or not. For example, it you measure it smaller than the exact size, the clothes will not fit. On the other hand, if the measurement is bigger, your dog won’t be able to walk comfortably.

Check out Petitude's dog clothes size guide. Our size guide will help you in determining the best fit for your dogs because our chart shows the measurements for the neck, back, chest and even the breed of your dog. If you are unable to find any fit, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Important reminder: If your dog’s measurement falls between two sizes, always choose the larger size.

How To Choose A Dog Collar

dog collar

Dog collars serve a variety of purposes: for control, identification, or for fashion. But regardless of the purpose, you have to make sure that you are picking the right collar for your companion.

Here's how to choose:

 1. Size. The perfect collar for your dog is the one that is not too loose on the neck and not too tight to the point of choking your dog. The ideal fit should allow for one to three fingers to fit between your dog's neck and the collar, depending on the size of your dog.

2. Ability to clean. Choose a dog collar that is easy to clean and use cleaners that are made especially for the collar material.

3.  Durability. Test the snap-together sample to ensure that the hold is strong. Leather dog collars with either buckled or snap-together closures are ideal choices.

4. Safety. Buy a collar with reflective materials if you plan to walk your dog at night.

Extend your poochie's wardrobe by buying him a wide variety of collars of different functions/purposes, sizes, materials, and styles. Just remember that your main goal is to ensure that your pet is safe, comfortable and happy in his new accessory.
